What happens at the Opening Ceremony?

In Munich, Oktoberfest is kicked off when the phrase “O’zapft is!” (It’s tapped!) is yelled by the mayor of Munich, who has the honor of tapping the first keg, signaling to the crowd that Oktoberfest is officially open.

In Saint Charles, we have our mayor, Dan Borgmeyer, kick off the festivities in the same manner.
